Top 10 tips to get bugs to bug off Let’s face it, no one wants to share their home with bugs and using chemicals can harm our pets and family. Here are some great ways to get rid of house bugs naturally and safely.
- Flies – These critters spread diseases and you do not want them in your home. Take a jar and fill a quarter with apple cider vinegar and floral washing up liquid, soap or even shampoo. Cover the top with cling film and secure with an elastic band. Poke holes in the top and place in the problem area. The flies will be able to get into the jar and won’t be able to get back out again.
- Fleas – Flea bites are not only an irritant for our pets, they bite us too. Mix together 4 parts vinegar, 2 parts of water, lemon juice and witch hazel. Put into a spray bottle and spray everywhere after vacuuming. Repeat a couple of times and your house will be flea free.
- Bed Bugs – They hate heat. Use a hairdryer or steam cleaner on your bedding, mattress and bedframe. The eggs they lay can’t survive the heat. Make sure to change bedding regularly.
- Spiders – Spiders are good for your home as they feed on other pests, but if you really want them out of your house, they hate citrus. Rub lemon peel on your skirting boards, window sills, shelves and book cases.
- Termites – Having termites in your home can cause expensive damage. Leave wet pieces of cardboard out to attract them then burn the cardboard.
- Silverfish – Sprinkle Cedar chips around problem areas, they hate the smell.
